Nordic Wood Bonsai's mission is to introduce the Art of Bonsai to showcase how inviting these magical trees into your surroundings can holistically lift your mental and physical well-being. The hobby perfectly blends horticulture with artistic expression.
The word "Bon-sai" is a Japanese term which literally translated means "planted in a container." The art- form is derived from an ancient Chinese horticulture practice which was then redeveloped under the influence of Japanese Zen Buddhism.
The art- form has been around for well over 1,000 years. The ultimate goal of growing a bonsai is to create a miniaturized but realistic version of nature in the form of a tree. A common myth is that bonsai's are genetically dwarfed plants. Although this is not the case as any species of tree can be used to make a bonsai!
Learning bonsai techniques comes with many benefits including a real connection with nature. You can have an entire forest landscape sitting on your table. Much like yoga or meditation, the art-form helps us cultivate an understanding of our internal reactions to the external world.
We are strictly a bonsai tree nursery, informational center and online store located in beautiful Southern New Hampshire. Every tree is cared for and hand picked from our greenhouse and delivered to your doorstep with the utmost care. It takes a very measured approach to ship these living masterpieces across the United States safely. We have it down to an absolute science.
