My tree container was damaged, what should I do?

Oh No! We are extremely sorry this has happened! We package every tree with the utmost care and damage is an extremely rare event. It is very normal for trees to lose leaves and drop fruit if applicable during transit. It is not normal for any ceramic containers to break. Please send photos of the damage within 24 hours of delivery to (Support@nordicwoodbonsai.com). We will then assess the damage and remedy it quickly.

My package is lost, what should I do?

Unfortunately any lost items is not the responsibility of Nordic Wood Bonsai. We use the USPS for all shipping and lost items should be directed to the carrier.

Can I refund a gift card?

Unfortunately we cannot refund any gift cards.

Is it difficult to care for a Bonsai Tree?

Definitely not! This is an extremely relaxing stress free hobby! It does however take a commitment to provide adequate Light, Water and Fertilizer to create an adequate environment for a healthy tree.

How often do I water my Bonsai Tree?

Our trees use an in-organic soil mix that is fast draining and absolutely perfect for Bonsai Trees. It isn't about the amount of water going in, but the amount of water going out! Feel free to water your tree thoroughly until plenty of water is pouring out of the bottom of the pot. This will allow the roots to receive ample water. You can stick your finger an inch into the soil to feel if it is moist or not throughout the week. It won't be long until you can observe just by sight when your tree needs a bath. During the warmer months, you can allow mother nature to help you water your tree for you. They love it!

What is the difference between an Indoor Bonsai Tree and an Outdoor Bonsai tree?

You may see other companies, blogs, articles etc. advertising Bonsai trees as "Indoors." This is a bit misleading as ALL bonsai trees love to be outside. The difference between tree species is that some prefer COLD winters while others need WARM winters. Example: If you ever see a random Juniper Bonsai Tree being sold inside at Home improvement stores in the winter, (RUN FOR THE HILLS) that tree is dead before you even bring it home, without you even knowing! They cannot survive inside.

Tropical Bonsai Tree species however need to be brought inside when temperatures start to fall below 45 degrees.  They need to be brought indoors to a sunny spot near a window. Using a humidity tray underneath the tree is a very good idea during the dry season when indoors. This will increase the humidity around the tree compared to the rest of the home.

Tropical species can stay indoors during warmer months as well if you prefer. Although they would love to get outside on a porch, balcony, step etc. to feel the wind between their leaves and also get some higher humidity as well. Don't be afraid of rainy days, they love it!

My tree lost some leaves / fruit or even a broken branch during transit?

This is absolutely normal! Your tree might even look a little droopy and down on themselves from the long transit as well. This is all fine and does not harm the tree at all. A broken branch can actually strengthen the trunk! Your tree might even experience some leaf drop due to stress of the trip as well. These are living things remember :) A few weeks of adjustment to its new sunny spot will cheer your tree right up!

What is Wiring? Is it a must?

The word "Bonsai" translated literally means "Planted in a container." Your bonsai tree will look absolutely stunning with just it's regular care (Water, Fertilizer, Sun). If you want to explore your relationship a bit further with your Bonsai, then the ART of Bonsai will come into play. This is where you can use Bonsai Tree wire to wrap around the trunk and branches to manipulate the trees growth pattern. This in no way hurts the tree at all but can drastically change the shape. You can create stunning living pieces of art. Its completely up to you! It is YOUR tree.

Is my tree safe during shipping?

You bet it is! We create custom shipping boxes that fit your tree nice and snug while using eco-friendly materials such as bubble wrap, peanuts and saran wrap to protect your tree with excellent care. You will receive an extremely healthy tree with absolutely no soil spill. We would never ship a tree that we wouldn't keep ourselves.  That is our guarantee!
